One down, one to go

I'm pleased to announce that Finn went to his new home this morning. We will really miss him and I was hesitant to let him go again...but, this particular home is perfect. He was adopted by one of the founders of MOKAN who also did his initial home visit and kept in touch with his owner for several years. In fact, Finn's original adoptive owner named him after his new owner's dog Fynn! Fynn and her other senior dog recently passed away and she and her current dog were looking to fill a place in their home.

I think he looks to be settling in just fine...

Now, who wants Cade?

I Go Back

I mentioned earlier this year that my high school cross country coach retired after 41 years. Last month the school had the first annual Joe Haug Give Thanks 5k in his honor.
This was really fun as the race followed the route we ran always ran for our practices in school. They even had signs along the way with "classic" Mr. Haug jokes.
Overall it was a really nice event and I got to see a lot of old friends.

I even won my age group!
We hope to go back next year!

Nontraditional

Since December 12th we have spent approximately 36 hours at home.

We didn't get a tree.

We didn't decorate.

We didn't put up lights.

We didn't get each other any gifts (which actually isn't that unusual).

We didn't sent Christmas cards.

But I did get a really good tan.

Warmer weather

We are getting more snow at home. But we don't care since we boarded a cruise ship in Fort Lauderdale this afternoon...

Sale

There was a sale at the feed store this week. I picked up a few things for the dogs. I think Legend approved.

Holiday-ish photos

We got a little more fresh snow last night and I got another day off work.  We also had sunshine and wind chills above zero today so I got some more pictures.  I think they turned out cute.

Lyric once again declined to participate.

Snowed in

Depending on where you measure, we have anywhere from 6-11 inches of snow.  So let's call it eight.  The clinic where I was supposed to work is not open today.  So even though the wind chill is like 10, I got a few pictures.  Lyric declined going outside so these are all border collies.

I love this one

Random things and sleeping kittens

We sent some videos of Cade to a local disc dog group. They liked him. Cross your fingers he finds a nice frisbee home soon.

It's snowing here today. I worked at the spay/neuter clinic. We skipped lunch and cranked out all 26 surgeries before 2:00 so everyone could go home early.

The wind chill is 10. I have a house full of bored border collies. And it's not supposed to get any better.

Here are the kitties waking up. So cute.

Product review: Merrick Hungry Dog Value Pack

Given that we have no shortage of dogs in the house, we chose the Hungry Dog Value Pack this month.  This really is a big back at a good price (for those of you interested in purchasing it looks like it's normally $8.99 but currently on sale).

This came with a variety of chew items including what appear to be pigs ears, some kind of snout (I think) and hooves.

The ears everyone liked and they last about as long as you would expect (most dogs have had a pig ear in their life I think).  The snouts, come in basted and unbasted.  I like that they are soft and therefore safe for teeth, but also are surprisingly long lasting.  They must be pretty tough and chewy.  However, none of the dogs (other than Lyric) really seemed to love them.  They did eat them, but not with the excitement and persistence of some of the other things we have samples.  And Zodiac, who has never been known to be picky won't eat the unbasted ones at all.

I was a little disappointed that there were hooves as I don't give my dogs those because they are so hard so I can't tell you if they likes them or not.  But I can tell you that they looked gross, so probably dogs would love them.

Overall I think this is a  nice, budget friendly option for someone wanting a variety of chews, but it's not one I would order again.
