Today’s show and tell

This week the local shelter brought this dog in to have her leg checked. Unfortunately the radiograph looked like this


I believe this dog was shot in the elbow. They COULD take for a surgical consult and MAYBE someone could clean up the joint and put the elbow back together. But even if they could there’s a good chance it wouldn’t heal, the recovery time would be long and the joint would never be normal. So, this dog is getting an amputation. It’s the most effective route to a pain free life. 

Anout the film, the bright white is the metal and the reason the bone edges look fuzzy is because the leg was trying to heal itself. But obviously it couldn’t. So this was not a fresh injury.
