Family fun

Here is our group photo from pot luck and flag ceremony night. We all look good!

Jerry wasted no time in teaching them about football. He had them all set up with chili and the games on TV the first Sunday of the season.

They also enjoyed looking at our wedding album and showing us pictures and videos of wedding ceremonies in their countries.

And here are the furry kids being cute.

This one is also a little silly.

Animal news

Riesling continues to make progress. We’re pretty much back to about where we were when I brought him home. It’s not where I’d hoped to be but given where we were a month or two ago I’m happy with it. Hopefully we continue make improvements. I need to practice driving the trailer now so I get him some exposure to other places.

He also continues to be a great canvas!

And sometimes he shows his less elegant side.

Gus went an adoption event yesterday. He was quite the charmer. Here he is looking sad that I wouldn’t let him play in the mud after his bath.

Epic and Sundae continue lack personal space skills.

Life skills

Now that we’ve redone the kitchen our furniture didn’t match. So first up, we got new bar stools. Which we made the girls put them together. I think they took it as welcome break from homework and only needed a little help.

Legend supervised a little.

Then they had an exchange student field trip this weekend where they had to camp. It was in cabins but the cabins didn’t have anything in them so they still had to use air mattresses and sleeping bags and bathroom facilities in a separate building. They also roasted hot dogs and made s’mores which is absolutely essential to survival, in my opinion!

On the way home they went to Lambert’s and we met them there for dinner. Obviously, they got to use their roll catching skills here!

Farm fun

We had a great day today! We took the girls to the farm to meet more of my family and celebrate my dad’s birthday. The girls enjoyed some photo ops around the property and seeing the classic mustang car.

Here they are in the old farmhouse. That painting has been there as long as I can remember!

There was lots of henna art. Even Grandma got in on the action!

Aunt Jackie getting a hand and foot done.

“Great-Grandma”

“Grandpa” Jerry

Then the girls each did a short presentation about their homelands and answered a lot of questions. We are looking forward to more family fun!

Just for fun

We had the girls translate all our names. It’s fun to see how everything looks in another language.

Flag ceremony

Today was exchange student orientation day. After that was family potluck which the girls helped make the food for. They are a big help around the kitchen. I hardly had to do any work!

While the kids finished orientation the parents set up dinner.

There was no shortage of food!

The kids got to have dinner at the head table. Their last time as “guests” now they are family!

There is one more young lady joining the group in a few weeks but here is everyone else!
