On a lighter note

It's that time of year again!

Merry
 Christmas
Grandma!

For new readers this year, I always print my Grandma a book of my blog every year at Christmas so she can read about everything we have been doing and see all of our pictures since we don't live nearby.  And it's about time I get to work on that!

I think I'll get started on calendars of my beasts for gifts next year.

How do you print a book of your blog? That is super cool. I'd love to have such a thing as a keepsake!

You go to the blurb website and download the booksmart software. I have been really happy with all the ones I've done.

Thanks! I didn't know such a thing existed! I've been playing with it this morning and Secret's first year ended up being 150 pages. Time to decide if I'm going to order a $50 book. lol Year two will be even worse! But it sure would be a neat thing to have.

Sometimes you can put two small posts on a page together or leave out posts that are only video to save space

Hmm. I used the "autoflow" option for it to lay everything out for me. Some pages are really screwy and do only have a short post on one page and lots of blank space below, but other pages will flow right from one post into another. If you lay everything out on your own does it flow better? I might have to redo everything... I can't figure out how to fix it otherwise.

You can cut and paste or space bar/back space to get it the way you want. And you can use different layouts to make better use of space based on what pictures you have in each post.

Yes! Thank you! :o) I scrapped the first copy yesterday and decided to see what happened if I put it together piece by piece. I hadn't even realized that you could change the layout, colors, etc. I'm very happy with the end product, although by using the larger picture layouts I actually ended up with 152 pages. lol

Thanks again for the tip! I really can't wait to get my book. It's such a neat idea.

I did one of my first few years awhile ago. I like it but it's the small size and I didn't utilize all the features like I could have. Now when I ever get around to subsequent books they won't match. Glad you liked your end product!
