Bath Time

Here is Legend looking pretty wild after her bath tonight. She finds baths highly invigorating and getting out of the tub inspires much sprinting around the house like a crazy dog. She's still so much a puppy sometimes!

More Bunnies

Here is another cute picture of Holly and Wiggles grooming each other for you to enjoy.
Today the weather turned frigid but we did get in a few minutes of agility this afternoon. Legend did perfect weave poles on the left and the right so maybe that is a good omen for the trial this weekend.
Today was the first day that Jingle picked up a ball outside to play with and she even fetched it a few times when I threw it for her. She also picked up the frisbee and tried it out. She will make someone a really fun dog I think-once she learns how to play more. She is so interested in watching all our other animals it's hard to get her to think about the toys, but she is starting realize there is more to do in the day than watch rabbits or pigs or horses.

5K Run

After a hiatus of many years I have decided to give running a 5K road race another shot. My goal is to run one over the 4th of July weekend. I think I can probably run 3 miles before that but I would like to attempt a respectable showing.

Agility Fun

Today Linda and her dog Chesney came over to practice agility with us. Here are a few cute pictures of Chesney running. Notice how Jerry managed to get this great A-frame picture while she has just one foot touching the obstacle! And now something very exciting-Jerry's new camera shoots some pretty decent video-so here is Legend in action doing a short course we made up in the back yard. He is still working on his videographer skills but it's not bad. This took a long time to upload so you may need a fast internet connection to actually watch it.

It is still cold here with no new or interesting news to report so I will leave you with these pictures of a bad cat in all the places she shouldn't be!

Sunflower kennel club

The dogs competed in Lawrence this weekend but did not have one of their better outings. Legend put together some really nice pieces of runs but together we managed to get all the wrong faults at all the wrong times as to not qualify. She did have some good course times though. The difference between open and excellent courses has gotten so small that the good thing is when she can do a clean open course she should be able to do a clean excellent course! Although her inexperience showed at times-she lots more times where I could see she is really coming along nicely. Zodiac had a weekend of inconsistency and some loss of focus. Better luck next time!

Bunnies

Here are our rabbits, Holly and Wiggles. I don't usually get very good pictures of them because they always have red-eye from the flash and we don't take them outside. But Jerry's new camera software has a red-eye remover that actaully works, so here is a cute picture of them. And also a nice picture of Legend using the new A-frame.

Also due to both the Colts and the Seahawks losing this weekend I will be unable to defend my title of Football Play-off Pool Champion. All we can hope for now is that the Patriots lose.

Pigs

And now, because they have never before appeared on the blog, are Touchdown and Spadias.

We had a lot of of bad weather in the Springfield area last night but we here in Ozark were spared. The "locals" tell me that tornadoes and other bad weather events always hit in Ozark but since moving here we have not had that experience and all the bad stuff has happened in Springfield and to the north. So I think we will just stay put for awhile. Plus Ozark has better stuff than all the small towns north of Springfield.

Sad news

A friend from agility training and our pet therapy group here suffered a stroke Friday night. She was found on the floor of her house unconscious on Saturday when she unexpectedly failed to show up for an important pet therapy function. She was taken to the hospital but yesterday her brain started to swell and another clot was found. The doctors said half of her brain had died and she would never walk or talk or understand anyone again. Anyone who knows Marlene knew she would not want to live that way and the family has decided to let her pass on-she went peacefully this evening.

We will all miss Marlene very much. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers.

Dog-walk

We got the rest of the pieces for our dogwalk this weekend and you can see Legend trying it out. We also got rid of our old furniture and most of our fence row cleared out-we fortunately had a great weather weekend to get all that done without being miserable. The dogs got lots of playtime outside and are actually quietly sleeping tonight!

Wild Dogs

Ever since we got Legend we have pretty much considered stuffed toys to be disposable. As you can see from the picture she and Zodiac LOVE tugging on all of these cute little fuzzy toys. Usually this ends badly for the toy-see what happened to the little horse just yesterday. Finding body parts around the house is pretty common. And here they are just chewing on each other for fun-makes a lot of noise if you are trying to watch TV or something but it does keep them entertained!
