Today’s show and tell

This week the local shelter brought this dog in to have her leg checked. Unfortunately the radiograph looked like this

I believe this dog was shot in the elbow. They COULD take for a surgical consult and MAYBE someone could clean up the joint and put the elbow back together. But even if they could there’s a good chance it wouldn’t heal, the recovery time would be long and the joint would never be normal. So, this dog is getting an amputation. It’s the most effective route to a pain free life.

Anout the film, the bright white is the metal and the reason the bone edges look fuzzy is because the leg was trying to heal itself. But obviously it couldn’t. So this was not a fresh injury.

More pony fun

Cheri brought her niece over the one day. So I turned Ries into life sized my little pony!

Gus update

Gus had his cardio recheck last Friday. And he got the good news that things are looking good. And the bad news that he can finally be neutered! Full bio coming soon!

AKC with two dogs!

We had a one day AKC scentwork trial here this weekend.  I decided to go ahead and bring both dogs since there was no travel and just one day.

Legend was very enthused about her searches but not overly accurate.  In a rare turn of events she only passed advanced exteriors.  But she did so very nicely with a third place.

Epic picked up the slack by passing everything but exteriors (it was wet and rainy, maybe made a difference?). He even got first in Novice containers and 3rd in Novice buried.  And even though the didn't place in interiors his time was only 15 seconds.  So big day for baby dog!

Good horse

He may not be the fanciest, or the most athletic, but he’s a pretty good babysitter so far.

Catch up time

Jeannie got adopted by a nice young guy this weekend! Gus has a cardio recheck next Friday so hopefully then he will be ready to neuter and list.

Riesling is settling in and gaining weight and becoming a good little riding horse, making improvement all the time.

The super sniffers went to a UKC trial this weekend and had some success. Legend got off to a rocky start in interiors but finally nabbed a master leg at the end of the weekend. She went 2/2 in exteriors though and finished her elite title. She ended up with 2 firsts, one second and two high in trial. Epic went 3/4 in exteriors getting his Novice title and one advanced leg with one first, one second, one third, and one high in trial. More fun sniffing later in the month!

Also these are growing in a weed patch from some seed I put out last year but didn’t grow until now.
