Cold

It has turned cold here again-we actually started a fire in our fireplace tonight. We stayed in and ran errands most of the day. The dogs are unhappy that they didn't get to play outside much this weekend as we were busy or the weather was bad but hopefully it will be nicer later this week. Tonight was also Mexican Pot-luck night at church and we had a good time visiting while there.

Here is a picture of Spring with her basket of bunny goodies for you to enjoy.

And one of Wiggles playing in his hay basket.

More flowers and other things

Today was a big day for my truck-for the first time it actually fulfilled part of its purpose of pulling something. We bought it with the intention of eventually getting a horse trailer but so far have not gotten one. Today though, we used the truck to return a flatbed to my grandparents. They had delivered some hay to us with it a few months ago.

I brought Spring to work with me on Friday to let her get used to being around other people and to weigh her-she has gained over a pound since we got her and weighed in at 8.3 pounds. She is also doing really well on her litter box training. We have been leaving her loose in her pen all night and she has done really well.

And finally here are some more of the flowers I currently have blooming.

My Alien

Here are pictures of Legend after she played outside while we were mowing the other day. She looks much better today after some of the green has worn off. Oreo had surgery on Monday to remove a bad tooth-his gums are still sore but he is doing ok. It seems like all I did this week was surgically remove large teeth. Today I had a German Shepherd that had been shot in the mouth prior to being taken into rescue and adopted by a client-this morning we had to go in and remove all the shattered remnants of two of his biggest teeth. It was really successful though and I think he will feel much better in a few days!

Trial Weekend

Legend and I and our friend Cheri and her dog Renny spent the weekend in Kansas City attending the Pet Expo and the agility trial. We all had a good time but not necessarily a lot of success. Legend had tons of fun running agility but was off course more times than is typical for her and also had a few weave pole issues (although admittedly we have not practiced weave poles much lately so it's not really her fault). I also totally caused an off course in her last run which I had really hoped to qualify in. So she got no legs but more experience on excellent level courses. Cheri and Renny had fun "dock diving" and qualified in agility once as well.

More Spring Fun

Here are some pictures of the dogs having fun playing in the yard the other day.
Today we had company again and everyone had a good time playing fetch and enjoying the sunshine. The old dogs mostly enjoyed the sunshine and the young dogs enjoyed the fetch.

After more debating I decided to put up the new electric fence controller, probably better safe than sorry. After all we already had it, might as well use it. Today the horses also get vaccines and deworming. They will be so excited! Squirt was actually supposed to get shoes today but my farrier got kicked this morning and had to cancel the rest of his appointments for the day, maybe for a few days. Hopefully he will be fine. Here is a cute picture of Spring playing with her toys. We are trying to encourage using the toys instead of pulling on the rug (which is not the actual carpet in the room, just a throw rug. We already learned that lesson!)

Lazy cats

These cats are so ambitious aren't they. It's still cold here. We had snow flurries again this morning so we stayed inside all day-except to go to church and run some errands. Then we took a nap and did more laundry and dishes.

Spring is getting so sweet-she practically crawls in my lap to get petted when I sit in her pen with her. But she does try to nibble clothes so you have to watch and make sure she doesn't get skin. She eats like a horse and and is getting a little better at the litter box thing.

Speaking of horses they are messing with the fence again, not as bad as before but I think I will go ahead and put up the more powerful controller since I have not taken it back yet.

Water!

Here are some pictures Jerry took yesterday at Table Rock Dam with the spillways wide open. Apparently this happens next to never (or maybe this really is the first time, I'm not sure) but anyway there was evidently a constant stream of people coming by to check out the dam. There were still people there at almost dark last night when we drove by after dinner. Yes-we eat dinner in Branson, the wait for a table is usually shorter than in Springfield, especially during the non-tourist season. Plus Branson has a new Kohl's we like to shop at. And now you know how exciting our Friday night was.

In addtion to all the water we actually had snow flurries here today. How depressing is that. The weather is really putting a damper on the weekend. I was going to plant some flowers but since it's like 40 outside and there is freeze warning tonight I don't think that is going to get done. Guess I better do some housework since it has been neglected this week.

Agility Photos

Here are some pictures of Legend practicing in the yard. She was very disappointed last night when I skipped class. I just didn't have the energy to go back to town with the risk of getting rained out and having to just come back. But today turned out to be a nice day in spite of a stormy start so we got to have some good practice and play time this afternoon. She worked on fast contacts and speed circles. Great fun.

Spring and Wiggles had more positive bonding today and very slowly she seems to be getting the litter box idea. Although I left her out unattended too long tonight and she had a pee accident on the floor-back to more supervision. It's sort of like a puppy.

That's all I have for today because it's time for dinner and finally there is some new TV to watch!

Here are some more bunny pictures for you. Spring and Wiggles spent a little more time together today-they seem to be ok with each other so far-they have sniffed each other and even did a little grooming of each other. For anyone who has never had to introduce two rabbits to living together it can be quite a process. Once they are bonded though, they are pretty much set for life.

The pink and yellow hyacinths have now started to bloom as well as the blue ones so here are a few pictures of them to enjoy. We had a great time last night with our church group-instead of discussion we had a pot-luck/game night and really enjoyed it. We didn't get home until late however which caused me sleep through most of the morning (I had the day off). But once I was up and rolling we had a good day. A friend came over and we played dog games and let all the "kids" play in the back yard with the toys and in the pool. I also got a few errands done and Spring and Wiggles did some bonding. Sadly, tomorrow is back to work.

Here is a picture of Icy because I have not posted one of her in awhile and she is just so adorable!
And here is a picture of the sky I took a few weeks ago-just thought it was pretty.

Spring is here!

Not the season-the new bunny! Spring, as I said before is a Flemish Giant. She is about 3 1/2 months old and weighs more than seven pounds. She will continue to grow until she is 18 months old and should get to be at least 14 pounds. She is very long and lanky and is starting to settle in nicely after her long trip today. She's still pretty nervous though. She and Wiggles have met briefly and so far seem to be ok with each other.

Cool Picture

This picture is a blow-up of a part of the one on the previous post. I just thought it looked cool-almost like a painting. Just wanted to share that with you. I don't often mention work in my blog but apparently this has been the week for all people who feel that veterinary care should be free. Very frustrating. Anyway on a more exciting note I will be getting a Flemish Giant Rabbit on Sunday. She will be approximately 12 weeks old and already more than 5 pounds!

Bad horse, Fat cat

Well, even though I now have the electric fence working Moses has continued to dismantle it. I guess he doesn't care if he gets shocked. So Saturday we went and bought a more powerful fence controller hoping that more of a jolt would deter him. We didn't put it up though because it was yucky outside all weekend. And of course he has not once since we bought the new controller (which is sitting on the desk) taken down the fence. So I guess I will give it a few more days and see if I can take back the new equipment-maybe he's had enough.

I found this lazy cat napping in the sun this afternoon. He had a hard morning of getting vaccines. He was horribly embarrassed over his weight though-almost 15 1/2 pounds! Apparently I need to cut back on the food once again! He and his chubby buddy just keep packing it on!

This was my afternoon off and even though it's a bit chilly it is nice
and sunny so we enjoyed some playtime outside and Legend practiced some agility. Here are some more pictures of my spring flowers. It's interesting that every year the purple hyacinths bloom first.
