The Problem

This is our yard. These are not our dogs. (They live at the house you see in the background) They are actually in the alley between our back yard fence and our pasture but they don't limit themselves to this area-they will pretty much go anywhere except the back yard because it is fenced with chain link and they can't get in. They run the fence line, bark, and poop in our yard-a lot. How anyone can think that letting their dogs run free and destroy another person's property and peace is amazing to me. I guess we will have to go talk to them-this is totally unacceptable.

And here are some pictures our our dogs from today. Zodiac declined to pose nicely so he didn't get his picture taken. Legend is doing pretty good on all the things we are working on except she has not really picked up on turning in the direction of my shoulders. She knows she's supposed to go out to the jump and turn and come back in to me but she's not figured out the cue to turn the appropriate direction. But it's only been a few days.

Sadly, we put up our fence more to keep our neighbor's dog out of our yard, and away from our dogs, than to keep our dogs in.

Our neighbor's dog has walked right into our basement, as well as our mudroom. Not to mention, jumped on and knocked down the guy who came to repair our air conditioning system.

Good luck talking to them.

Yes, good luck talking to your neighbors.....why they let their dogs run like that I don't understand!

You have to take care of your doggies! They are your children...so if the talk doesn't go well, please be careful. Some people (not saying the neighbors would) might put out poison in retaliation. It's happened to people I know. You just never can tell what is inside a person's head.

Having your own dogs destroy your yard is one thing, but someone else's dogs is completely unacceptable. Good luck talking to them - people with no sense about boundaries are sometimes hard to deal with.

I would simply plan on a secondary fence. That kind of sucks, but it's probably a more direct solution to the problem. I'm a big believer in double fences, actually, and landscaping. I'd put in another fence, a line of trees, maybe some shrubs as well to screen out the view.....'k I'll stop now. :)

man...and I thought the cats were bad just running and jumping over the fence here. (at least it gives Ella some exercise chasing them out!) Good luck...

Good luck talking to the neighbours although I doubt much will come of it as people like that seem to think thye're a law unto themselves. There are a couple of dogs here that attack the other dogs in the neighbourhood at every chance, people complain and the two dogs get put on leads for a couple of weeks and then its back to them running loose again until the next time. Yup, I can relate to that... I had to go over to my neighbour and talk to him about a very similar problem. He let his dog out three times a day to pee and poop on our property.
